How to Fight Infection Naturally Without Antibiotics

Infection treatment with antibiotics is very common but for those of us that have a story to tell concerning the use of antibiotics for an infection, where the use of antibiotics caused us harm than good, and when finally we get an alternative to antibiotics, we appreciate it better.

Growing up I remember taking antibiotics for a throat infection, which is an infection of the oral pharynx and tonsils by streptococcus. I was always having a sore throat and most times, it comes with a feverish condition and very severe that I can’t swallow saliva, food or even talk. At that time I was taking Strepsils, Rosiclox, Amoxicillin, Ampiclox prescribed by my doctor, I used to take any of these antibiotics but discovered that Strepsil and Rosiclox work better for me so I took more of Strepsil and Rosiclox for so many years.

Antibiotics have a number of drawbacks. They kill bacteria indiscriminately throughout the body, that’s the way they work. For example, if you have a sore throat, the antibiotic you take kills the friendly or good bacteria known as lactobacillus in the gut and vaginal, exposing you to vaginal yeast infection. That’s why vaginal and intestinal yeast infections are very common after the use of an antibiotic.

Infections can get smart sometimes, they become used to our body system and by this time the antibiotics will begin to fail us, they stop working. When you take antibiotics repeatedly, they can weaken, rather than strengthen, your immune system, and may lead to more serious problems if not almost immediately, then later in life, especially when taken for years.

In my case, the Strepsils I was taking at that time did not only stop working but left a very dark black scar on my lower lip that was there for more than 3 years, running into several years. I remember after taking Strepsils, suddenly my lips will begin to itch me badly, I was helpless at that time in my life but I had to tell myself it was time to stop taking Strepsil even though the throat infection was still there, on and off and disturbing me almost all the time.

I suffered this all through my teenage years. I remember those days at the university when I fall sick and by the time my mum gets to know at home that I was sick in school, she does not bother to ask me what it was, she will just say, “the sore throat has come again” and I will say “yes”, it was that bad. Miraculously, the itching very dark black scar faded away after several years but today I have a story to tell on the use of antibiotics and its adverse drug reaction because it left me with an unforgettable experience.

Later on in life, I’ve got to look elsewhere for solutions to a throat infection. So many of you have a similar story to tell concerning the use of antibiotics, where it stopped working for you and the infection seems to be the master of your body system because it’s now smarter than the antibiotics and keeps coming back. That’s where natural remedies and natural antibiotics come into play. Here’s a guide to natural antibiotics and these natural antibiotics treat various types of infections without breaking down your immune system.

What to Do If You Have an Infection

One important thing you should do when trying to get rid of an infection or a recurrent infection is to eliminate toxins by cleansing your body system. Goldenseal has numerous uses that are attributed to its antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and astringent properties.

The roots and rhizomes of goldenseal contain many isoquinoline alkaloids, including hydrastine, berberine, canadine, and l-hydrastine as well as traces of essential oil, fatty oil, and resin. The high content of alkaloids contained in Goldenseal is believed to give its antibiotic, anti-infective and immune stimulating qualities. Research at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School has shown goldenseal’s medicinal effectiveness as an immune stimulant due to its ability to reduce pro-inflammatory response that indirectly leads to limiting of clinical symptoms during infection.

Goldenseal also contains calcium, iron, manganese, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, B-complex, and other nutrients and minerals.

Goldenseal is effective against bacteria, protozoa, fungi, Streptococci and it also promotes easier removal of the bacteria by preventing their ability to adhere to tissue surfaces. The berberine in goldenseal prevents the bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) from binding to urinary tract walls.

Goldenseal is used as a medication for inflammatory internal conditions such as respiratory, digestive and genito-urinary tract inflammation induced by allergy or infection. It’s an effective treatment for bladder and intestine infections, gonorrhea as well as Candida albicans.

Echinacea is a fantastic natural remedy for various types of infections such as urinary tract infections (UTI), bloodstream infections, genital herpes, syphilis, and vaginal yeast infections.

Research by the University of British Columbia, explains that regular echinacea consumption can effectively reverse and alleviate various types of inflammation, which is at the root of most disease.

Echinacea contains polysaccharides that are known to trigger immune function which results in the production of leucocytes (white blood cells). The resulting phagocytic action of the leucocytes effectively eradicates a number of infectious organisms.

Due to its immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory effects, echinacea can be used to relieve the various upper respiratory symptoms.

Various Native American tribes have successfully used Echinacea to improve skin conditions. It’s been used to treat inflammatory skin conditions, psoriasis, skin infections, and to promote wound healing.

Garlic is a plant in the onion family, grown for its cooking properties and health effects. It contains a compound called allicin, which has potent medicinal properties. Allicin enters the body from the digestive tract and travels all over the body, where it exerts its potent characteristics.

Garlic has been used for many years to treat and prevent bacterial and viral infections and also infection from other microbes including yeasts, fungi, and worms due to its antiviral, antibacterial, anti-fungal properties. The organosulfur compound found in garlic has been successfully used to help prevent infections of the yeast Candida albicans and to treat fungal skin infections.

Garlic has the ability to help in the treatment of bacterial infections that are difficult to treat due to the presence of bacteria that have become resistant to pharmaceutical antibiotics. It is known to enhance the function of the immune system and help with digestive disorders.

It improves inflammatory conditions. The anti-inflammatory compounds in garlic benefit the musculoskeletal and respiratory system.

Garlic contains antioxidants that protect against cell damage and aging. It is a good source of minerals like selenium, calcium, and phosphorus. It contains vitamin C, B6 and manganese and different kinds of natural sugars, including fructose, glucose, and insulin.

Sage is effective against 70% of all staphylococcus bacteria and has the capacity to instantly kill as many as 65 different bacteria strains. It also kills different viruses and fungi that include E.coli and effectively promotes healing.

The phenolic acids in sage are particularly potent against Staphylococcus aureus. Sage oil has been shown to be effective against both Escherichia coli and Salmonella species, and against filamentous fungi and yeasts such as Candida albicans.

The rosmarinic acid found in sage acts as an anti-inflammatory agent in many parts of the body while the antioxidant compounds found in sage, such as rosmarinic acid, luteolin, and apigenin, can all work to neutralize free radicals and prevent them from creating oxidative stress in the body.

    1. Hello Amanda, hope you are good. Yes, sometimes one may not have a common cold and can get infected with tonsillitis as it’s happening in your case.
From what you explained, your immunity seems to be weak and all you need to do is to consciously begin to build your immune system strong so your system can ward off the infections that try to invade your body.
You should ensure you are eating well and incorporate supplements that will support your immunity into your diet. Look for superfoods like Organics-G and Antioxi-D which can be taken as a routine supplement to help build your immune system strong.
Also, if you have been treating the infection with antibiotics, you can try Oregano essential oil and InfectCare kit to further treat the infections.

Wishing you the best of health.
